World's youngest professor is a Muslim woman

Becoming a college professor is a difficult feat, one that can take a long time to reach, often many years after the candidate begins serving as an adjunct or associate professor.

For Alia Sabur, her quest has been reached at a tender young age, 19, giving her the distinction as being the youngest person to ever be awarded a full professorship. Hailing from Long Island, NY, Professor Sabur was hired by Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea this past February, just three days before her 19th birthday.

No, Sabur wasn’t your average student and she certainly will not be your average professor. Speaking to Ann Curry on NBC’s TODAY program on Wednesday, it was revealed that Sabur began talking and reading by the time she was 8 months old. At 5, her elementary studies were finished and at the tender age of 10, Sabur was off to college.

    What is her ethnic background? I've read "Iranian" in some places and "Pakistani" in others.
