Young Muslim Scientist Honored by Glamor Magazine


Troy, NY - Ghofrane Benghanmen, an undergraduate student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, has been named to the prestigious Glamor Magazine's list of top ten college women in the United States.


Benghanem is working as an undergraduate researcher in the lab of Linda McGown, professor and chair of chemistry and chemical biology. She is a devout Muslim and serves as the president of the Muslim Student Association.


She was chosen from among 700 female college students nominated around the country. Among the qualities Glamour looked at were excellence in her field of study and unique, inspiring goals.
